At GT, we are focusing on building people, not just a church. The We Build People seminar series is definitely not designed to be a "cookie cutter" program. God created each of us to be a unique individual. Focusing on the unique person that God created each of us to be, we want to enable every individual to capture the Lord's vision for his life.

When we say that GT is involved in the process of building people, everything begins with the foundation. The foundation determines both the size and the strength of the building. You can never build larger than the foundation can handle. A life built upon an inadequate or faulty foundation will never reach the height that God intends for it to reach. It will topple over once it outgrows its base. If a person wants to build a healthy, strong and growing Christian life, much time must be spent laying a solid foundation. The We Build People seminar series will provide the tools to establish a firm foundation that will enable a lifetime of stability and fulfillment!

We want to produce doers of the Word, not hearers only - to transform, not merely inform. One of our slogans at GT is "You only believe the part of the Bible that you DO." Transformation does not, and will not, happen by chance. We must establish a disciple-making, or educational, process that encourages people to act on what they learn and rewards them when they do. This component of the We Build People program is the Christian Life Development Process.

Our Christian Life Development Process has 4 steps....

  • 101...Partnership in the Local Church

  • 201...Discovering Spiritual Maturity

  • 301...Discovering My Ministry

  • 401...Discovering My Place in the Great Commission

We use the simple diagram of a baseball diamond to visually represent the process. Each base represents a completed class and a deeper level of commitment. The participants get to first base by completing Class 101 and committing to GT's partnership covenant. Seminar enrollees arrive at second base after completing Class 201 and committing to a spiritual growth covenant. Participants make it to third base by completing Class 301 and committing to serve in at least one ministry at Glad Tidings...a ministry that fits their own unique S.H.A.P.E. :
  • S piritual gifts
  • H eart/Passion
  • A bilities
  • Personality
  • E xperiences

Finally, those enrolled in the We Build People series get back to home plate by completing Class 401 and committing to sharing their faith both at home and in missions outreach. Each of the seminars will help to systematically develop a strong, healthy Christian life.

As in baseball, no credit is given for runners left on base. Our goal is to assist people in the goal of becoming a "grand slam disciple." This is accomplished when the participants complete the twelve hours of basic training and commit to the covenants explained at each base seminar. There is a written covenant at each base that we expect people to sign and commit to before moving ahead to the next seminar. No one may proceed to the next base until they have committed to the requirements of each covenant.

We build a multidimensional ministry by focusing on one level of commitment at a time. We don't want people to feel overwhelmed by thinking they have to do it all at one time. Even Jesus didn't do everything at once!

Each We Build People seminar lasts 3 hours. Only one seminar is taken by an
individual each time the series is offered (approximately 8 times each year).
Each participant will have graduated from the series after successful completion
of all four seminars...a total of only 12 hours.

The We Build People Seminar series at GT was profiled in the
September-October 1998 edition of Christian Education Counselor.
